about the artist

About Me

All my life I have been a creator. As a child, Art was always my favorite class. My box of 64 crayons (with the built-in sharpener!) was a prized possession. In college I earned a BFA in Graphic Design and subsequently worked in that field for 30 years.

Throughout those years I have admired artists who were able to find their passion and then make a living from it. I’ve taken classes and workshops in various media but none of them really clicked… until, when in January of 2020 I signed up for a ceramic sculpture class. I was instantly hooked. I took another class, then another and another.

So now I am taking the leap into the art world as a professional. I’m not sure where this road will take me, but I am truly excited to find out.

About My work

My current work is inspired by the creatures, patterns and textures found in nature. The sculpture I make reflects my love of nature and wildlife by highlighting the personality and quirks of the animals I sculpt while communicating a sense of wonder and whimsy. In each piece I try to capture a moment in time; the peaceful contentment of a sleeping squirrel, the dignified nobility of an owl resting on its perch, the soulful gaze of a foraging mouse. Nature is my church and these pieces serve as shrines to the earth. Much of my work is of a small scale creating an intimacy between the art and its viewer. My sincere hope is that the joy I feel while creating my art will transfer to those who see it.
